Top forger nabbed in Sta. Cruz

-
Police operatives arrested Friday a man tagged as the master forger of school and government documents during a raid at his residence in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The arrest of 31-year-old Jaime Aguilar, brought to an end his long-time illegal activities, forging and falsifying Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) licenses, drivers licenses, Social Security System (SSS) cards, college diplomas and other government documents, the police said.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Leandro Mendoza, said Aguilar’s arrest was a result of an intensified campaign against fraud and other forms of crime.

The suspect, dubbed as the "golden fingers" of Sta. Cruz, Manila and Quiapo district, initially resisted arrest and introduced himself as a civilian agent of the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) when joint agents from the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) raided his house at 1697 LRC Compound, Sta. Cruz.

Confiscated from the suspect were one set of computer with a printer, three pieces of government agencies’ dry seal, one computer scanner, an NBI identification card and other paraphernalia reportedly used in forging government documents.

Aguilar is now detained at the CIDG detention cell after a criminal case has been filed against him before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office. – Jaime Laude
