Kids with drug woes can get help

-
A middle-aged couple who thought their world crumbled when they discovered that their only daughter was hooked on drugs could only heap grateful praises for a drug rehabilitation center in Quezon City which, they said, saved their family.

The couple, who requested anonymity, said their long years of living in "hell" because of their daughter’s addiction to drugs and alcohol have painfully affected their lives and haunted them even in their sleep.

Freddie (not his real name), 45, a father of the recovering drug dependent said he was grateful that he watched a television show about the Well-Spring Foundation, Inc.,(WSFI), a drug rehabilitation center which features modern facilities, well trained counselors, family oriented and spiritual principles, and eclectic methodology for rehabilitation.

After watching the TV show, Freddie said he went to the WSFI center at 6 Maalalahanin St, Teacher’s Village, West Diliman, Quezon City and found it had a well-kept, homely and friendly atmosphere.

"I felt like I was in my own home with warm and friendly people, " Freddie said.

He recalled, he found nothing of the dreaded military-like or austere atmosphere most drug rehabilitation centers are known for.

Freddie and his wife Kate were further convinced of entrusting their only daughter to the care of Well-Spring Foundation center upon learning that Rev. Fr. Larry Faraon, O.B. was its spiritual adviser.

Fr. Faraon is responsible for the spiritual and family oriented therapy sessions at the center. Another key official, Dr. Rosendo Sualog of the Dangerous Drugs Board, the center’s executive consultant.

At present, the couple’s daughter, a former shabu and alcohol dependent is enjoying her newfound life.

Staying sober for three years now, Freddie’s daughter is currently employed at a local government office. Couples whose children are having problems with drugs or alcoholism may call telephone nos. 920-5993, 927-1317 or 921-0125 for assistance.
