Superintendent Reynaldo Fernando, Taguig police officer-in-charge, identified the fatalities as Federico Omancito, 51; and Delia Sanchez, 45, both residents of Wildcat Village, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig.
The two were declared dead on arrival at the Fort Bonifacio Hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Lolita Villarez, 37, a neighbor of the two, is now in critical condition at the same hospital for a gunshot wound in her abdomen.
Police are now hunting down suspect Jun Martinez, 31, who escaped right after his shooting rampage at around 8 p.m.
It was learned that Martinez was drinking liquor with some colleagues and friends in his house, also in Wildcat Village, when he got a .45 caliber pistol, ran outside, and challenged neighbors to a fight.
In his rampage, Martinez stopped outside the house of Omancito where the former soldier was standing in front of his house with Sanchez. Shouting invectives, Martinez shot Omancito, Villarez and Sanchez.
Police are conducting further investigation to find out if Martinez had a motive in killing Villarez and Sanchez.
Meanwhile, homicide and physical injury charges were filed yesterday by the Western Police District against five of its operatives who were involved in a shooting incident in the Muslim Center in Quiapo, Manila, last Thursday night.
Two men were killed, including a suspect, while at least three others were hurt in the incident. Charged in the Manila Prosecutor’s Office were Senior Police Officer 1 Angelito Pelia, Police Officer 3 Federico Chua, PO3 Artemio Bautista, PO3 Alvin Sente and PO1 Nelson dela Peña.
The accused officers, detailed with the Palanca Police Community Precinct, are still under the custody Superintendent Frumento Villareal, station commander of the Sta. Mesa police station, which has jurisdiction over them. – Rainier Allan Ronda and Mike Frialde
