Abductors want P10 M in Valenzuela?

Abductors of four young persons, two of them Filipino-Chinese women, late Saturday afternoon in Valenzuela City are demanding P10 million for the release of the victims, a source from the local Chinese business community said.

The report, which was disowned by the Valenzuela police, was relayed by a Caloocan businessman to Caloocan City police officers Sunday night. He said the ransom demand was allegedly made through cellphone call.

The source, who requested anonymity, revealed that the unnamed husband of the victim, identified as a certain "Jessica Ang," described to be about 35 years-old, also reported the incident to the Crusade Against Violence (CAV), through Teresita Ang-See.

While the Valenzuela police named only a certain "Jessica" among three persons abducted by six Armalite-welding men in its report, the source said also abducted was certain "Jansen Ang." His relation to Jessica is still being determined by the police.

It was also gathered that the Angs’ reportedly own a junkshop in Caloocan City but reside in Malabon City.

Outgoing Valenzuela police chief Superintendent Nemesio Neron, in an initial report to Northern Police District head Senior Superintendent Vidal Querol, said they are yet to establish whether a kidnapping for ransom (KFR) incident actually occurred.

Police sources confirmed yesterday they are still in the process of verifying the veracity of the alleged P10-million "kidnap" report.

Reports said the abductors were on board a light gray Toyota Revo (WFT 196) Saturday when they grabbed the victims, who were reported to be riding on a Honda Civic (UKM 436) while cruising along Tatalon street in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City. – Jerry Botial and Nikko Dizon
