FQS foundation assembly slated

-
The First Quarter Storm Foundation will hold its third annual general assembly on Sunday, Aug. 26, starting 2 p.m. at the Quezon City Sports Club.

The foundation, an organization of anti-Marcos activists from the early seventies, plans to honor members who passed away this year, as well as outstanding members who were elected or appointed to senior positions in government.

Among those due for posthumous recognition are Raquel Edralin-Tiglao, former executive director of the Women’s Crisis Center; Tony Robles, a leader of the urban poor movement in Tondo; and Popoy Lagman, a founder of the Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) and the Sanlakas party-list organization.

Among the former activists now serving in high government positions are Rigoberto Tiglao, the Presidential Spokesperson; Noel Cabrera, Press Secretary; Col. Victor Corpus, head of the Armed Forces’ intelligence service (ISAFP); and a number of newly elected as well as re-elected senators, congressmen and local government officials.

All foundation members are encouraged to attend and participate in an evening of tributes, memories and fellowship.
