Declaration of Support

As concerned citizens, we wish to express our continuing and unwavering support to Senator Panfilo M. Lacson who is now being charged with alleged money laundering activities in Hongkong, the United States and Canada.

This is the latest black propaganda thrown against the Honorable Senator and it seems to be part of a continuing persecution and demolition job against his person and integrity.

Senator Panfilo M. Lacson is not new to these negative write-ups and reports about him. He has been linked to other alleged criminal activities like the Kuratong Baleleng, the abduction and murder of Bobby Dacer, the planned destabilization against the government and others. However, to the dismay of his opponents and critics, none of these cases have taken off.

The Kuratong Baleleng case was already dismissed. This administration however, bent on destroying the character and reputation of the Honorable Senator, is trying to revive it in violation of the Constitution and the Rules on Criminal Procedure. The Dacer case is not moving until now and yet, the name of the Senator is being floated as the mastermind. The planned destabilization of the Arroyo government is likewise being blamed on him. The only thing that his detractors can not impute on him is the killing of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

This latest attempt to link the Senator to money laundering activities on the basis of a report by Col. Victor Corpus, Chief of the Intelligence Service of the AFP, published in a leading newspaper is but another black propaganda against the Senator. We believe that Senator Lacson is innocent of these charges and we are very glad that he has decided to confront the issue head on by delivering a privilege speech on the floor of the Senate to defend his honor and dignity against the malicious attack on his person. The fact that the Honorable Senator is even willing to give Col. Corpus a Special Power of Attorney showed that he is not hiding nothing. He even dared his detractors to sign waiver of their own bank accounts if he will make a waiver of his own.

But the questions that always crop us in our minds are "when will all this malicious insinuations against the senator ping lacson end? What will they gain in destroying the character and reputation of the honorable Senator? WHY ARE THEY HELL BENT ON DESTROYING SENATOR PING LACSON? WHY ARE THEY AFRAID OF HIM?

To this recent controversy of alleged money laundering activity of the Honorable Senator, Citibank officials issued statements denying the existence of the alleged accounts claimed by Col. Corpus as belonging to Senator Ping Lacson. This shows that all the while, Col. Corpus is trying to deceive us into believing that Senator Ping Lacson did the alleged acts when in truth and in fact, he knows that his alleged bombshell is a dud.

What is highly deplorable, is that it seems that the Intelligence group of the AFP is more concerned with the alleged money laundering activities of the Senator which is a police matter, rather than concentrating its efforts on its main task of securing the integrity and sovereignty of the State from external and internal threat like the Abu Sayyaf. It is therefore not surprising that this group has continued in its terroristic activities to the dismay of our people and of foreign nations.

We are therefore calling on all concerned to stop this malicious imputation to destroy the character and reputation of one of the most loved member of the opposition. Our country will not move forward if all these bickerings will not stop. Let the Arroyo administration’s call for reconciliation and healing process take its due course. Let this call of her Excellency be not stalled by what her subordinates are doing and let the evil men and women masterminding all these be unmasked to unravel the whole mystery and be punished for their dastardly acts. - Friends and Supporters of Sen.
