OFW ‘caught in the act’ stabbed in Caloocan City

A 31-year-old jobless man repeatedly stabbed early yesterday morning an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) whom he caught sleeping with his live-in partner inside their house in Caloocan City.

Suspect Robert Raymundo of Dalisay Street, Maypajo, Caloocan, was arrested by responding policemen a few hours after the incident.

Victim Edrodin Apostol, 39, of 122 General Malvar Extension, Bagong Barrio, Caloocan, is now in critical condition at the Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, police said. He sustained stab wounds in the chest, back, and face.

Case investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Vivencio Gamboa of the Caloocan City police Sub-station 2 said, Raymundo arrived home at around 2:30 a.m. and caught his live-in partner and a half-naked Apostol sleeping beside each other in their bedroom.

Enraged and consumed with jealousy, Raymundo grabbed a fan knife and stabbed the victim.

The suspect was arrested by PO3 Renato Pongco and PO2 Edward Cleofas of the Mobile Patrol Division at around 5 a.m. just as he was about to escape.

Raymundo is now detained at the Sub-station 2 detention cell and is facing frustrated homicide charges. – Nikko Dizon
