Cripple kills drinking buddy in Valenzuela

Incensed and apparently insulted over his drinking buddy’s challenge to a duel, a 38-year-old cripple allegedly stabbed the former dead early Sunday morning in Valenzuela City.

Police identified the suspect as Longakit Lucrecio, alias Pilay, of 14 Yellow Bell Extension, Barangay Potrero, Malabon, who remains at large.

Victim Jaime Abad, 58, taxi driver, of 3524 Gumamela Duplex, Barangay Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians at the Fatima General Hospital.

Authorities said Abad sustained multiple stab wounds in different parts of the body.

Police said the incident happened at around 8 a.m. along Sampaguita Street, Barangay Marulas where Lucrecio, Abad, and some friends were having some rounds of beer.

Witnesses said a heavily drunk Abad suddenly challenged Lucrecio to a duel. This allegedly annoyed and insulted the suspect as he was physically disabled. A heated argument between the two men ensued.

Witness David Aruelo told the police that the suspect later walked out. Aruelo added that the group of drinking men thought that Lucrecio had wanted to avoid trouble. Everybody, however, was caught by surprise when Lucrecio came back, armed with a fan knife, and without warning, repeatedly stabbed Abad.  Nikko Dizon
