Mandaluyong has new cop chief

Mandaluyong City now has a new police chief after city police director Superintendent Jose Gentiles took a leave of absence effective yesterday to study abroad.

Chief Superintendent George Aliño, Eastern Police District director, named Superintendent Sukarno Ikbala officer-in-charge of the local police. The latter is the concurrent chief of Directorial Staff for EPD.

"He (Gentiles) gave me a one-page letter, asking for a leave of absence," Aliño said in a telephone interview.

Gentiles, a member of Philippine Military Academy Class ’84, held the post for one and a half years. Ikbala, on the other hand, is a member of PMA Class ’76. – Sheila Crisostomo
