Electric wire kills boy

A 17-year-old boy died from electrocution in an apparent accident in Caloocan yesterday, the police said.

Investigators said Danilo Salvador of 636 7th Street, 6th Avenue, Grace Park, Caloocan City was instantly killed Tuesday night after high voltage electricity from a high-tension wire coursed through his body.

Case investigator PO3 Joseph dela Cruz said Salvador, along with two friends, climbed a wall to retrieve loose copper wires above a Meralco transformer on 8th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues.

The boys planned to sell them to a junk shop, Dela Cruz said. However, Salvador accidentally touched the live wire, resulting in his instant death.

A Filipino-Chinese volunteer firefighter from the Chamber Fire Prevention Association recovered Salvador’s limp body from the top of the transformer at around 7 p.m. – Nikko Dizon
