More day care centers in Muntinlupa

Muntinlupa City has a total 68 day-care centers with the inauguration of four new centers last week.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi named the four new day-care centers at the Sitio Pag-Asa (Pacwood) Day-Care Center, the Lakeview Day-Care Center, the Sitio Masagana Day-Care Center and the Upper Sucat Day-Care Center. He said the 69 day-care centers can accommodate more than 4,300 children aged three to six years and provide them with free but quality early education.

Fresnedi also said he has created an Early Childhood Education Division under the city’s Social Services Department to supervise the operations of all the day-care centers.

The mayor explained he was making his administration’s early childhood program a priority program since the early education of children plays a big part in their formation and development into productive and law abiding citizens.

Fresnedi said his administration also opened the new Bagong Silang Elementary School in coordination with the Japanese Christian Foundation, the Campaign to Stop Prostitution of Asian Children and Protect their Rights (CASPAR).

The mayor said he regarded the new public school as a "showcase" since it was built in a former garbage dump that was cleaned and sanitized and put to good use. – Rainier Allan Ronda
