A 45-year-old fast-food restaurant accounting manager was gunned down while on board their office van by a daring robber at a parking lot of a rival fastfood restaurant in Parañaque City last Thursday.
Police Officer 2 Valero Bueno said robbery was being eyed as the motive behind the killing of Edgardo Guiao, accounting manager of a Max’s restaurant branch in Makati City and resident of 243 Amoranto Compound, Muzon, Taytay, Rizal.
It was learned that Guiao, along with a female co-worker, were seeking refuge inside their service Tamaraw FX van from a suspicious-looking man who was walking round their vehicle at the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant along Dr. A. Santos Avenue in Sucat, Parañaque.
Seeing that they were not coming down from the van, the robber suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Guiao who was hit in the belly.
A security guard at the said restaurant came to the aid of Guiao and his co-worker and helped bring the wounded Guiao to the Parañaque Medical Center. Guiao died on the way.
Guiao and his co-worker, whom police declined to identify to ensure her safety, had reportedly just come from a BPI branch where they picked up automated teller machine cards for their fellow employees. – Rainier Allan Ronda
