Brother stabbed dead during drinking spree

-
A man trying to intervene between two fighting brothers took a step too far after he stabbed the older sibling dead Sunday night in Malabon City.

Police are now after the suspect known only as Boy Negro, of Kadima Compound, Letre Road, Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon, who fled after stabbing Rogelio Acosta, 28, jobless, of 216 Damata Compound, Block 4, also in Letre Road.

Investigation showed that the incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. in Kadima Compound.

Case investigators PO2s Redentor Mantala and Peter Rios said that the suspect, Acosta, his younger brother Nestor, along with several friends were having a drinking spree when a fight erupted between the siblings.

According to Mantala, the victim allegedly told his brother about a problem but was reportedly offended by Nestor’s advise. A heated argument between the two ensued, leading to a fistfight.

Mantala said that the suspect tried to intervene but when he could not pacify the brothers, he suddenly pulled out a fan knife and stabbed the elder Acosta in the left armpit.

Police reports showed that the wounded Acosta managed to take a few steps until he fell bleeding to the ground. Minutes later, witnesses said, the victim was dead.

Meanwhile, the police arrested the other night two teenagers after they robbed and stabbed dead a 26-year-old taxi driver inside his cab in Quezon City.

Suspects Gerry dela Cruz, 18, and Ivan Angelito, 19, are now detained at the Central Police District headquarters as they await proper charges to be filed.
