June 9, 2001 | 12:00am
Commissioner Resureccion Borra of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), acting as presiding officer in an en banc session, today directed Taguig Mayor Ricardo Papa to tell his followers barricading the Taguig municipal hall to immediately disperse.
Borra issued the directive after Atty. Sixto Brillantes, counsel for winning Taguig mayoralty bet Sigfrid "Freddie" Tinga, complained to the commissioners that Papas followers had barricaded the municipal hall.
"Who are the leaders of this mob? This mob surely has a leader. Can you please tell your client to order the immediate dispersal of his supporters?" Borra told Atty. Agnes Maranan, Papas counsel.
The Comelec also will appoint a new chairman of the Taguig Board of Canvassers and appoint two members, one each to be nominated by Papa and Tinga to proclaim the electoral winner.
