Immigration authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport refused admission to an American for calling them "a bunch of pains in the ass."
The drunken American, John Robert Macauley, 34, also claimed that he was the boyfriend of movie actress Ruffa Gutierrez, according to senior immigration intelligence agent Rudy David, who said "as if dropping Ruffa’s name would make a difference."
Macauley, according to staffers of Northwest Airlines, was "displaying arrogant and rude behavior" even while on board the plane, to the discomfort of passengers, while apparently celebrating his birthday.
"He was reeking with liquor and was creating a scene while lining up for immigration clearance," David said.
Macauley was traveling with Australian Steven Zoltan Slezak. Both were barred entry into the country. Slezak tried to bribe immigration officers to change their minds about Macauley, and when they refused, challenged them to a fist fight. – Rey Arquiza
