Operatives of the Central Police District arrested the other day a 48-year-old Korean for beating a fellow national with a lead pipe in Quezon City.
Suspect Lee Aung, temporarily residing at the Royal Palm Hotel on Padre Faura, Ermita, Manila, is now detained at the CPD headquarters as he awaits proper charges against him.
Victim Chong Wong Ho, a resident of 13-A Amayan St., Project 3, sustained serious head injuries and is now receiving medical treatment at the Quezon City Medical Center.
Initial investigation showed that the incident took place at about 7 p.m. in the victims house in Project 3. Reports said Aung barged into the house and demanded that Ho show himself.
Upon seeing the victim, Aung picked up a lead pipe and lunged for Ho, hitting the helpless victim on the head. Ho immediately collapsed on the floor, as another resident, Amalia Argarin, intervened.
Argarin began shouting for help as she saw the bleeding Korean slumped on the floor. Ho was rushed to the hospital, as responding policemen immediately arrived on the scene and arrested Aung.
Charges of frustrated homicide and trespassing are now being readied against the suspect, as investigators are determining the cause of the incident. Matthew Estabillo
