Nagging mother strangled by son

-
Fed up with the constant nagging of his septuagenarian mother, a 32-year-old jobless man strangled her to death Monday in Pasig City and tried to hide the crime by reporting it as an accident.

But the suspect, Emmanuel Ramos, made the mistake of cracking up while he and police investigator PO3 Rodrigo de Dios were praying for the soul of his departed mother, Mary, 71. "He made the mistake of asking forgiveness from his mother which made me suspect that he had something to do with the death of Mary," said De Dios.

During questioning, the suspect broke down and confessed to the murder of his mother. He was arrested and detained at the Pasig City detention center.

A former sales manager, the young Ramos admitted taking illegal drugs. He said he stopped his drug habit only three months ago. The suspect was drinking liquor inside their house at 6 San Ignacio St., Barangay Kapitolyo when his mother scolded him at around 3:50 p.m. Monday.

Losing his senses, the young Ramos grabbed a three-meter electrical cord and crept behind his mother, who was standing by the garage door, and strangled her.

But he was unable to sustain his hold on his mother’s body, causing her to fall to the floor, hitting the cement pavement head first.

Realizing what he had done, Emmanuel rushed his mother to Medical City where attending doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at around 4:05 p.m. – Non Alquitran
