Fire razes giant ice cream cone plant in Valenzuela

A factory of an ice cream cones, reportedly a supplier of ice cream giant, Selecta, was razed to the ground yesterday morning in Valenzuela City, destroying an estimated P50 million worth of property, authorities said.

According to Superintendent Romeo Villafuerte, regional fire director of the National Capital Region (NCR), the fire started at around 9:10 a.m. in the backyard of the New Star Apa Corp. located at 149-150 Gen. T. de Leon St., Valenzuela.

The factory is reportedly owned by Samuel and Wiliam Tan, Michael and Johnson Sy, and Tony Yao. It has around 100 employees and supplies ice cream cones to Selecta, said co-owner Michael Sy.
