Jilted laborer leaps to death

A reportedly heart-broken laborer leaped to his death from the third floor of an apartment where he had been drinking beer in Sampaloc, Manila, early yesterday.
Carlito Briones, 28, died instantly from a broken skull after falling head first from the third storey of the apartment he was renting with a co-worker, on P. Florentino street, Sampaloc.
Based on the investigation of Western Police District (WPD) Homicide unit prober Police Officer 3 Joey de Ocampo, the victim was drinking with Roger Gayos when he suddenly got up and walked to the terrace.
Gayos was reportedly caught by surprise when Briones suddenly jumped.
During the drinking session, Briones revealed to Gayos his depression over the loss of his girlfriend, Josephine, a housemaid in a nearby residence.
Josephine reportedly dumped Briones for another man. Police are still investigating the incident. – Jose Aravilla
