Rob suspect slain

Police shot dead yesterday morning a 36-year-old man, believed to be a member of the "Martilyo Gang,",a band of jewelry store robbers, after a shootout with elements of the Philippine National Police in Quezon City.
The suspect, identified as Tammy Mamalinta, of 33 BMA, Liwayway Lane, Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City, sustained gunshot wounds in the body and died instantly.
Mamalinta was shot while he jumped off the vehicle he was using with two other companions to escape pursuing policemen at about 5:45 a.m. along Rosario Drive, Barangay Immaculate Concepcion.
According to SPO2 Rodrigo Barrameda, operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group received information about the whereabouts of Mamalinta, a suspected member of the gang responsible for the two mall bombings in Caloocan and Quezon City. – Matthew Estabillo and Jaime Laude
