37 alleged sex workers arrested in Quezon City

Operatives of the Central Police District (CPD) rounded up 37 suspected commercial sex workers during a series of operations in Quezon City on Tuesday night.

Chief Inspector Edgardo Pamittan, head of the CPD-Station 10 (Kamuning), said the operations were carried out following reports that individuals allegedly engaged in the flesh trade continue with their illegal activities despite the government’s campaign against prostitution.

Pamittan said the raid was in compliance with the directive of Central Police (District) director Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Tor to renew the drive against prostitution.

At around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Pamittan noted, his men combed the area around Quezon Avenue corner Timog Avenue in Quezon City and rounded up 20 persons, including six young girls. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
