An 18-year-old fraternity member was shot dead by a leader of a rival fraternity in Caloocan City Monday night.

Police identified the victim as Cris Cielo, single, jobless, of 1153 Salmon St., Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan.

Authorities said Cielo was shot in the chest with an improvised shotgun, commonly known as sumpak, by suspect Cherry Angeles, 26, married, jobless, of 117 Gen. San Miguel St., Sangandaan, Caloocan. Cielo died on the spot.

Investigation showed that the incident happened at around 8:40 p.m. on C-4 Road corner Sabalo Street, Barangay 8, Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan.

According to case investigator PO2 Edgar Manapat of the Caloocan police Station Investigation and Intelligence Division (SIID), the victim and fellow members of the "Never Peace Guide Fraternity" were approached by the suspects and 10 other men belonging to rival fraternity, 99G.

According to witnesses Gener Onayan and Jerico Alvir, the 99G group challenged the Never Peace Guide members to a fight.

However, Cielo and his friends refused, which reportedly irked their rivals.
