Color-coding suspended

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. announced yesterday the suspension of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the color-coding scheme for the duration of the Holy Week.

It had earlier been reported that the color-coding scheme was suspended for only three days, yesterday (Araw ng Kagitingan), Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

However, Abalos decided to suspend the color-coding scheme today and tomorrow as well, for the convenience of motorists.

Since government offices will be open only for a half-day on Wednesday, Abalos found it necessary to suspend the color-coding scheme for the entire week.

Meanwhile, Quezon City Mayor Ismael Mathay Jr. ordered yesterday the deployment of uniformed policemen in all bus terminals in the city.

Mathay directed newly appointed Central Police District (CPD) director Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Tor to field at least five uniformed cops in each of the bus terminals to intimidate criminals from victimizing commuters. Marvin Sy, Cecille Suerte Felipe
