Aside from the one being constructed on EDSA and Quezon Avenue, flyovers will be built on two other busy EDSA intersections, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
DPWH Secretary Simeon Datumanong said work on the EDSA-West Avenue-North Avenue interchange and the one on Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City will both start in December this year.
The EDSA-Roosevelt Avenue interchange is scheduled to be completed by December 2003. Funded in part by the Japanese government, the P397-million project entails the construction of 520 meters of new roadway.
The P611-million EDSA-North and West avenues interchange will be finished in July 2004. Its longer construction period is due to its complex design since it will rise where three major roads meet.
Meanwhile, work on the EDSA-Quezon Avenue interchange is now in full-swing to meet its April 2002 target completion date, Datumanong said.
Started last December, the Japanese-assisted project calls for the construction of a two-way, three-lane viaduct along EDSA which will span a four-lane roadway along Quezon Ave.
