April 8, 2001 | 12:00am
Four policemen are in hot water after a man whom they arrested for drug pushing filed several criminal charges against them with the Pasig City police yesterday.
Charged were Inspector Henry Azwela; SPO2 Ramon Dumon; PO1 Bedo Montefalcon and PO1 Janet Sabo, all of the drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of the Pasig City police. They are facing charges of tresspassing, illegal arrest, illegal search, robbery and robbery-extortion.
Nestor Santos, 47, said the four lawmen arrived at his residence in Mamerto District, Barangay Rosario, Pasig City, at around 10:30 a.m. last Wednesday to arrest him for drug pushing. Santos said the cops also accused him of concealing a kilo of shabu in his house.
He denied the allegations but the suspects allegedly ransacked his house looking for the illegal substance. The four did not have a search warrant or a warrant of arrest.
Santos added the policemen found no drugs but they took some P200,000 in cash, two wristwatches, a pair of shoes and a set of kitchen knives. Sheila Crisostomo
