The Makati Local Civil Registry (LCR) won second place in the nationwide "Search for Outstanding Local Civil Registry Office" conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO), Mayor Elenita Binay said.
Binay said the Makati LCR was cited for the successful programs it has implemented in the city particularly its barangay mobile registration, various training seminars about civil registration, and the completeness and timeliness of documents it submits to the NSO.
Makati was the only local government unit in Metro Manila to win in the national contest.
"We are very proud that the efforts our local civil registry in educating our residents on the value of updated civil registration have been appreciated and recognized," Binay said.
Josephine Camata, city civil registrar, said that with the barangay mobile registration, residents are able to obtain their authenticated birth certificates, marriage certificates and other civil documents right in their respective barangays.
Camata said the activity is usually held every Saturday and residents are informed a week before of the scheduled registration date in their barangays.
