Boy drowns in Valenzuela

A 15-year-old boy who kicked off the summer vacation with a morning swim Tuesday with his classmates at a resort in Valenzuela City drowned after swimming in the deep end of the pool.
Authorities identified the fatality as Dan Matt Roblin of 2775 Rosalina St., Gagalangin, Tondo. Investigation showed that Roblin, a student of Torres High School in Manila, was at the La Rinell Plaza Resort located at 34 P. Reato St., Barangay Balangkas, Valenzuela, for an outing.
In the report, one of Roblin’s friends, a certain Joram Ian, stated that the group initially swam in the deep end of the pool. However, Joram said they decided to move to the shallow end but Roblin decided to stay behind. – Nikko Dizon
