Last week, also a Monday morning, 14 people perished and three others were injured when a wayward diesel tanker truck crashed into a parked jeepney near the fisherman’s wharf along the Coastal Road. The truck’s gas tank exploded, incinerating the victims.

Meanwhile, the police arrested over the weekend two alleged members of a car theft gang and recovered the stolen vehicle in Quezon City.

Suspects Joel Bosines, 27, of Barangay Masambong, and Armando Celeste, 47, of Kaingin Road, are now detained at the Central Police District headquarters as they await charges against them.

According to Chief Inspector Anthony Rodolfo, Bosines was apprehended after they forcibly took the Tamaraw FX of complainant Eladio Duplaco, taxi driver, at gunpoint the other day in front of Fairview Mall.

Celeste was able to escape with the vehicle, but he was collared after Bosines pointed to the police their hideout in Toktokan street in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City. Police also recovered a caliber .45 revolver from Celeste.– Rainier Allan Ronda and Matthew Estabillo
