DOH, Uniliver leads Women’s Month activities

-
The Department of Health (DOH) will team up with Unilever Philippines Inc. on Sunday in celebration of Women’s Month by simultaneously holding a Health Promotion Day for Women in three venues nationwide.

Free health information services and medical consultations will be given to all women aged 18 to 40 at the Megatrade Hall II at SM Megamall, University of Visayas in Cebu and the Victoria Plaza in Davao City.

Eighteen booths will be installed in each of the venues that will offer services such as physical examination, reproductive health information, tobacco cessation information, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, nutrition education, general examination and testing for blood and health financing.

There will also be booths that will deal with harmony in marital relationships, women’s desk in hospitals and police stations, fitness education, women’s war on waste and newborn screening. "This tie-up with Unilever is an answer to the DOH call for partnership and shared responsibility among various sectors in pursuit of national health goals," Health Secretary Manuel Dayrit said.

The said tie-up aims to help the DOH attain its national objectives for health in disease control and prevention, health promotion and protection until year 2004, provide equitable access to health services, encourage people to visit DOH-accredited institutions and avail of its services while helping Unilever gain credibility and goodwill for its health products.  Ella Oducayen
