Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Leandro Mendoza ordered the probe and possible filing of charges against Inspector Dionisio Bonoy and PO2 Augustus Junsay.
Bonoy is one of seven PAOCTF members who were charged by the National Bureau of Investigation for the Nov. 21 raid on Sun Valley Subdivision in Parañaque City, three days before publicist Salvador "Bubby" Dacer was abducted.
Mendoza ordered Chief Superintendent Nestorio Gualberto, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), to handle the investigation.
The CIDG has so far filed charges against Senior Superintendent Cesar Mancao, former PAOCTF chief for Luzon, for alleged violation of the Omnibus Election Code for campaigning for former PNP chief Panfilo Lacson, now an opposition senatorial candidate.
Mendoza learned about the alleged electioneering of Bonoy and Junsay when police officers investigated a vehicular accident last March 1, where the two PAOCTF men and four others suffered injuries.
During the incident, Senior Superintendent Arturo Lumibao, Cordillera police director, said his men found Lacson’s campaign materials inside Bonoy’s Mitsubishi Adventure.
The vehicle fell into a 250-meter deep ravine along the Halsema Highway in Sitio Bucao, Barangay Abiang, Atok, Benguet.
Bonoy, Junsay, Bonoy’s wife Alice Ing-inga, and relatives Dionisio and Lorenzo Inga-inga were transporting campaign materials of Lacson when they met the accident.
