The National Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into the grisly rape and murder of a 21-year-old female graduate of the De La Salle University in Parañaque City.
Edmund Arugay, chief of the NBI’s Special Action Unit said the parents of victim Claudine Mabel Feliciano, 21, yesterday sought the assistance of his office in solving the case.
Feliciano was found dead and naked last Sunday morning in a creek in Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City. Police said she was raped and beaten before she was killed by at least two suspets.
Police said Feliciano’s neck was tied with her own stockings and she was strangled to death by her attackers. She also sustained bruises in various parts of the body and a bullet wound in her right arm which indicate that she tried to resist the attacks, police said.
Initial investigation showed that last Saturday night, Feliciano drove from her house at 227 Ferrari Drive, Camella Homes in Sucat, Parañaque City, reportedly to attend a friend’s party in Ayala, Alabang.
Her body was discovered the following day. At about 11 a.m. last Tuesday, the victim’s Mazda sedan was found abandoned along Lapu-Lapu street in Magallanes Village, Makati City.
Parañaque police said Feliciano was raped as shown by crime laboratory examinations.
Meanwhile, an off-duty Manila policeman shot dead a drunken man armed with a knife who allegedly tried to barge into his home in Sta. Cruz early last Tuesday morning.
Reports reaching the homicide section of the Western Police District identified the fatality as Rodolfo Orada, 48, of Maria Clara St., Blumentritt, Manila.
Investigation showed that Orada, reportedly armed with a knife, went to the house of Senior Police Officer 1 Edwin Alarcio, 39, at 1818 Kalimbas St. Cruz, Manila, at about 4:05 a.m. and started kicking the house’s gate.
The ruckus awakened Alarcio, who is detailed with the Sta. Cruz police station. He then went out to pacify the victim after introducing himself as a police officer. But instead of calming down, the victim was allegedly further enraged and continued kicking the gate while shouting invectives.
When Alarcio opened the gate to pacify the victim, Orada reportedly took out a knife and attacked the police officer, stabbing him once in the left arm.
This reportedly forced Alarcio to draw his 9 mm service pistol and shoot the victim once in the right arm, sending him down to the pavement.
However, Orada reportedly managed to get up and again tried to attack Alarcio, forcing the latter to shoot the victim several times in the body.
Orada died while being rushed to the hospital while Alarcio surrendered to his superiors for investigation.
