Two promo girls are now in critical condition after they were shot by three robbers during an armed robbery in a passenger jeepney yesterday in Quezon City.
Leonila Sabido, 26, and Jen Dobosit, 23, promo girls at a Gift Gate center, both sustained gunshot wounds in the head, and are currently confined in St. Lukes General Hospital.
Alejandro Balbin, 18, one of the three suspects, was collared by witnesses and is detained at the Central Police District headquarters. Authorities are now after the other two who managed to escape.
The incident occurred at about 9 p.m. along Aurora Boulevard in Cubao, Quezon City on board a passenger jeep driven by Lorenzo Felicis.
Felicis said the suspects boarded the vehicle near Aurora Boulevard and 15th Avenue in Cubao. One of the men armed with handguns reportedly introduced himself as a policeman and started collecting valuables from the passengers.
One of the victims allegedly refused to part with her money and put up a fight. Felicis said one of the suspects fired two shots, hitting both girls in the face.
The suspects immediately alighted from the vehicle and tried to escape, but Balbin was cornered by witnesses and was immediately turned over to police.
Meanwhile, a 36 year-old man was stabbed dead the other night by six unidentified suspects after a heated argument in a billiard hall in Quezon City.
Ronald Mansilla, of 245-C Apo Street, Barangay Maharlika, sustained stab wounds in the body and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Chinese General Hospital.
Police are hunting the six suspects who immediately fled after the stabbing. Two of them are known only through their nicknames "Camilo" and "Jay." Matthew Estabillo
