Running under the independent party "KKK-Laban" or the "Katarungan, Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran-Laban," Lim chose Manila Fifth District Councilor Roger Gernale as his running mate.
According to Gernale, he and Lim have decided to run under an independent party so as not to incur any political debt as well as send a signal against traditional politicians.
"We need to infuse fresh ideologies (in the city’s governance) and would like to do away with traditional politicians," Gernale said.
Lim is also expected to announce his party’s list of congressional candidates and bets for the Manila City Council with the proclamation rally at 7 a.m. in front of the old Senate Building. After a short program, Lim will lead a march to the Comelec building in Intramuros.
Prior to his last assignment as Interior and Local Government Secretary, Lim also served as director of the National Bureau of Investigation and served as chief of the Manila police. – Mike Frialde
