Reelectionist Valenzuela City Mayor Jose Emmanuel Carlos faces two opponents with former Presidential Commission on Good Government chairman Magtanggol Gunigundo Sr. (Lakas) and incumbent Vice Mayor Ernesto "Boy" de Guzman (Nationalist Peoples Coalition) challenging him for the mayoral post.
This development has stirred the relationship between Carlos and Gunigundos son, Rep. Magtanggol "Magi" Gunigundo Jr. who is gunning for a second term at the House. Both are members of Lakas-NUCD party.
In a press briefing yesterday, Carlos, who is running under the People Power Coalition (PPC), revealed the party was still in the process of completing its list of candidates.
Carlos said he is pushing budget officer Arsenio Mayo for the citys second congressional district against the younger Gunigundo.
Carlos has also picked city health officer, Ireneo Candido, as his running mate with councilor Tony Dalag as the PPCs bet for the citys first congressional district. Jerry Botial
