Fleeing robbers run near police station, nabbed

Two armed robbers who had just held up an Indian couple in broad daylight were arrested after they made the mistake of running near a police community precinct in Sampaloc, Manila Thursday morning.
Police identified the suspects as Antonio Turralba, 34, of 700 Sto. Cristo st., Binondo, and Henry Gonzales, 21, of 1483 Sisa st., Sampaloc.
Investigation conducted by SPO1 Jessie Oliveros of Western Police District Station 4 showed that the suspects had blocked the path of a motorcycle-riding Indian couple at the corner of Ma. Clara and Basilio sts., Sampaloc at about 11:30 a.m.
Armed with a caliber .38 revolver, the suspects divested Indian traders Gurdial Singh and his wife Parminder Kaurchung of their collection amounting to P370.
The couple chased the fleeing suspects who ran in the direction of the University Belt police community precinct. – Nestor Etolle
