Shabu seized from Chinese trader, pals

A kilo of alleged shabu, worth P2-million, was seized by the police from a Chinese trader and three female suspected drug traffickers during anti-drug operations last Wednesday night in Baclaran, Parañaque City.

Police filed drug charges against Neneth Gomez, 30, of 291 Maysilo, Malabon; Julie Barleta, and Wilma Angeles, both of 112 Sto. Niño, Muntinlupa City.

The STAR is withholding the name of the Chinese trader, who is believed to be the source of the contraband, on request of the arresting police officers pending follow-up operations.

Agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) under Chief Superintendent Francisco Zubia nabbed Barleta, Angeles and Gomez in a buy-bust operation at the vicinity of restaurant in Baclaran, Parañaque City.

At around 8 p.m. last Wednesday, a police agent confirmed to CIDG agents about the sale of one kilo worth of shabu with a street value of P2-million, leading to the arrests.

Follow-up operations on the same night led CIDG operatives under Superintendent Eduardo Acierto and Senior Inspector Leo Francisco to the whereabouts of the Chinese trader, believed to be the person supplying the illegal drugs to the three women. – Christina Mendez
