The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $1 million grant to the Muntinlupa City squatter relocation program.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said this developed after the city was chosen as a pilot project area for an off-city and off-site relocation of squatter families living along the Philippine National Railways (PNR) railroad tracks in this city.
Fresnedi said the grant will help a total of 567 families out of about 12,000 families who live in hazardous conditions along the railway tracks. The grant will come from the ADBs Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction.
ADB said the project will be implemented by the Muntinlupa Development Foundation in coordination with the Ayala Foundation Inc. and the Philippine Business for Social Progress. Rainier Allan Ronda
