For dating someone else behind his back, a 19-year-old student was strangled to death by her jealous boyfriend, a suspected drug user, the other night inside his house in Valenzuela City.
Marilyn Magboo, of 439 Pacheo Street, Tondo, Manila, was found with a flat iron cord tied around her neck and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Valenzuela District Hospital.
The victim is said to be the daughter of a Tondo barangay official, Bening Magboo.
Police are now after the suspect, Edgar Allan Villarico, 24, a tricycle driver, of 121 Captain Cruz Street, Parada, Valenzuela, who fled after the killing.
The incident took place at about 11 p.m. inside the suspects room. Neighbors said they heard a commotion in Villaricos home and reported it to the suspects father.
Villaricos father tried in vain to persuade his son to open the door. But after a few minutes, the suspect came out carrying a bag and locked the door before leaving.
Neighbors forced their way inside and were shocked to see Magboos lifeless body sprawled on the floor. She was rushed to the hospital in vain.
Superintendent Nemesio Neron, the citys chief of police, said Villarico was jealous over another man the victim was reportedly seeing behind his back. Police are now readying murder charges against the suspect.
Meanwhile, homicide probers of the Western Police District are now investigating the mysterious death of a 36-year-old Japanese businessman who allegedly jumped from the fourth floor of a townhouse in Sta. Mesa, Manila early morning yesterday.
Police reports said Doki Shirashima, a native of Tokyo, arrived in Manila last Dec. 23 to spend the Yuletide season with his girlfriend Maribel Mendoza, who is staying at Room 43 of Sisval Building located along 1908 Arellano St.
Mendoza told police that prior to Shirashimas death, they spent the day shopping and arrived at the townhouse past midnight.
Police said while Mendoza was unpacking the items they had bought, Shirashima excused himself to smoke at the rooms terrace.
Mendoza told police that she decided to go to the terrace after Shirashima failed to return inside the room. She said she was shocked to see her boyfriend already lying on the road. Matthew Estabillo and Frialde
