Reckless driver kills Las Piñas boy

A three-year-old boy was killed when a passenger jeepney ran over him at a terminal in Las Piñas City over the weekend.

Police identified the victim as Daniel Anico of Block 18, Block 17, Medina Compound, Talon 4, in this city. Driver Allan Halos, of Block 10, Lot 13, Soldier’s Hills, Bacoor, Cavite, surrendered to the police.

Investigation showed the accident occurred at around 4 p.m. Sunday inside the Lozada terminal near the Talon 4 public market.

It was learned that the victim’s mother, Nena, was carrying plastic bags filled with food and clothes in both hands, while her son was walking alongside her at the terminal, when Halos’ jeep sudenly backed out from where it was parked, Halos not seeing the child. The victim was already dead when he was brought to the Las Piñas Medical Center.

Meanwhile, a jail guard is now in "hot water" after he pistol-whipped a vendor for refusing to sell him a pack of cigarettes for a lower price in Pasay City.
