Woman stabbed dead by own brod
December 8, 2000 | 12:00am
A 31-year-old woman was stabbed dead by her alleged mentally deranged brother after she refused to give him money the other day in Malabon.
Mercedita Ebrada, a resident of Barangay Longos, Malabon, sustained a stab wound in the neck and died while receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.
The suspect, Alvin Quintog, 28; was immediately arrested and detained at the Malabon police detention cell.
Case investigators PO2 Reynaldo Gabatin and PO2 Jorge dela Cruz said the incident took place at about 2 p.m. in the victims house in Kaunlaran Village, Longos.
Quintog, who has a history of mental sickness, asked his sister for some cash. Ebrada however, refused and started badmouthing the suspect.
A heated argument ensued. Quintog told the victim he was leaving, then got a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the left side of the neck.
Relatives of the suspect claimed that they knew of Quintogs mental illness, but they said he was never confined in any mental institution.
Despite this, police are still readying charges of parricide against the suspect. Matthew Estabillo
