3 persons injured in Caloocan factory fire

-
At least three people were injured after a fire hit a sandals factory yesterday morning in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City.

The victims were identified as Benjamin Dacuycoy, supervisor of Paramount Vinyl Products, Nelson de Chavez, 37; and Jovell Roll, 26; both employees of the said establishment.

All three victims sustained first degree burns and are now receiving medical treatment at the Manila Central University Hospital.

According to FO1 Marcelino Espeso III, the fire started at about 9:35 a.m. in the production area of the Paramount Vinyl Products building along General Tirona street in Bagong Barrio.

Espeso said the fire reached Task Force Delta, and estimated the damage to the two-story building at P5 million.

Although officials have yet to confirm how the blaze started, reports said it broke out from the second floor of the building where the establishment’s storage room for chemicals was located.

Firefighters declared the situation under control at about 1:34 p.m. Paramount Vinyl Products is the manufacturer of Bantex sandals and slippers. Matthew Estabillo
