7 arrested by QC cops for operating sakla games

Seven persons were arrested for illegal gambling by operatives of the Central Police District in Quezon City Monday morning.
Arrested were Donato De Guzman, 65, jobless, of 13 Santos Street; Santiago Maraveles, 52, married, laborer, of Kabalitang Street; Andy Del Mundo, 31, single, laborer, of 11 Tibursio Street, Dario Himaranan, 35, married, of Tingkong, 22, single, jobless, of 10-A Angeles Street; and, Jimmy Barbadillo, 34, single, driver, of 150 Sitio Lambak Street, all of Barangay Krus na Ligas, Quezon City.
A team from the CPD-General Assignment Section in Camp Karingal, Quezon City, led by SPO1 Nestor Manguba, conducted the operation at around 2:00 a.m after receiving information on illegal gambling along Kabalitang Street in Barangay Krus na Ligas, Quezon City.
Upon reaching the area, the team saw the suspects engaged in a game of chance locally known as "sakla."
The lawmen apprehended the suspects and recovered from them paraphernalia used in the illegal game, playing cards and P405.00 in bets. Charges of violation of P.D. 1602 for illegal gambling are set against them. Pia Lee-Brago
