A Valenzuela City laundry shop lost some P600,000 in payroll money to two armed robbers Friday afternoon.
Robbed of its workers weekend salaries was the 888 Steam Laundry Services at 4 Malinis street, Elvica Compound, Lawang Bato, Valenzuela City owned by Julie Chan.
The robbery reportedly occurred at about 2:30 p.m. a few minutes after Benito Pascual, 64, the laundry shops caretaker, withdrew some P600,000 from a Metro Bank branch at Gen. Luis street, Barangay Bagbaguin, Valenzuela.
Police said that Pascual was on his way to their office aboard a maroon Mitsubishi Galant (UDR-716) driven by one Eleazar Edar, when two unidentified men, armed with a caliber .45 automatic pistol and a caliber .38 revolver, blocked their car along G. Molina street in Barangay Canumay.
At gunpoint, the suspects ordered Pascual and Edar to get off their vehicle after divesting them of the payroll money which was in a blue and gray bag, police said.
Meanwhile, a Japanese, in the wrong place at the wrong time, is in serious condition after a tangle of electrical wires from a post toppled by a truck fell on him while he was walking along the sidewalk of a Pandacan, Manila street.
Naomi Shishimo, 40, sustained second degree burns on 40 percent of his body including his face and back. He was brought to the Philippine General Hospital by the truck driver identified as Francisco Mendez. Mendez surrendered to the Manila traffic police and is now under its custody.
