Man selling guns nabbed in Parañaque

A gunrunning syndicate operating in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces was neutralized yesterday morning with the arrest of its alleged leader by joint operatives of the Western and Southern Field Offices of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Parañaque City.

Police Superintendents Conrad Capa of the CIDG-Western Police Field Office and Gaudencio Cordora of the Southern Police Field Office identified the alleged syndicate leader as Edgar Ramoneda.

Ramoneda, 45, was nabbed during a raid inside his house at 1822 J. Gabriel St., Baclaran, Parañaque City, at about 7:30 a.m. Confiscated from him were 14 homemade caliber .38 revolvers.

According to police, the guns were made in Davao City and Cebu and transported to Manila for distribution and sale.

Police said the raid in Parañaque was a follow-up of another raid conducted last Aug. 28 in Buendia, Makati City, where 18 homemade revolvers were seized. – Mariss del Mundo and Mike Frialde
