Twenty-two-year-old Aldren Carayap, of 167 San Sebastian st., Herbosa, Tondo, Manila, was stabbed dead on his way to the house of a friend, also in Tondo, to celebrate his birthday.
According to homicide probers of the Western Police District, Carayap was on his way to the house of a certain Ompong with his friend Reggie Mariano when they were approached by two men at the corner of Lacson and Osorio streets at about 12:45 a.m.
Police reports said the suspects, identified as George Verona, alias "Dondon," 22, of 257 Sta. Catalina st., Tondo, Manila and a certain "Batotoy," cornered Carayap and gave him several blows to the stomach and the face before finally stabbing him once in the chest.
The suspects escaped on foot toward an unknown direction, leaving the fallen Carayap on the street.
Bystanders rushed Carayap to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Tayuman, Sta. Cruz, Manila where he was declared dead on arrival. – Mariss del Mundo and Mike Frialde
