Tondo barangay heads arrest 3 for shabu

Barangay officials in Manila responded to the call of Mayor Lito Atienza to be on the front line in the war against illegal drugs and a team of barangay chairmen in Balut, Tondo nabbed three Chinese nationals suspected of being drug pushers.

The arresting team of barangay chairmen included Francisco Buco of Barangay 131, Alfredo Pare of Barangay 140, Jeffrey Ong of Barangay 139, German Nuñez of Barangay 135, Vick Yangson of Barangay 136 and Jesse Payad of Barangay 137, all of Zone 12 in Tondo, and PO3 Nador Tejada. They cornered two of the suspects last Friday along Simeon de la Cruz in Balut, Tondo.

The two, identified as Nian Quingou alias Andy Lim, 25 years old, a resident of Sta. Cruz, Manila, and Nian Garry Si alias Kent Go, 25 years old, of Grace Park, Caloocan City, yielded approximately 20 grams of shabu.

The two were brought to the Balut, Tondo police station. While undergoing investigation, a Filipino-speaking Chinese national who identified himself as Oswald Lim arrived at the police station and offered P20,000 in cash for the release of the two suspects. The investigating officer, SPO1 Almie Urrutia, then placed Lim under arrest for bribery.

Atienza commended the barangay chairmen and elements of the WPD police Station 1 for their vigilance resulting in the arrest of the suspects.
