Inmate commits suicide

A murder suspect allegedly committed suicide by hanging yesterday morning inside a police detention cell in Quezon City.
The lifeless body of Ernie Reola, 21, barber, of Block 6 Lot 11, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City was discovered by his fellow inmates at the comfort room of Central Police District-criminal investigation unit detention cell at around 6:15 a.m. Police denied foul play was involved.
SPO1 Rodrigo Barrameda, officer-on-case, said the inmate hanged himself using a nylon bag strap looped around his neck and tied to the window grill of the comfort room.
The inmates said the apparent suicide victim joined them in playing a card game until midnight. Some of Reolas inmates were awakened when he rose from his sleeping mat and went to the comfort room but they said they went back to sleep.
