Agents of the Caloocan City police intelligence branch arrested four alleged jueteng personnel during a raid on a suspected gambling den Saturday noon in Bagong Silang.
Inspector Francisco Moral Jr., Caloocan City police intelligence branch chief, identified the suspects as Henry Ditondoy, 24, Oscar Tuquerro, 47, Roberto Diamzon, 34, and Alem Datu, 34.
The suspects were reportedly arrested at about 11:30 a.m. while in the act of drawing the winning number combination inside their hideout in Phase 2, Package 2, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
Police seized several jueteng paraphernalia and P115 in bet money. Proper charges are being readied against the suspects.
Meanwhile, police sources, who requested anonymity, admitted that games of chance, jueteng in particular, are hard to contain for despite their "kangaroo style" operations, this illegal numbers game still enjoys protection from unscrupulous police and local officials. Pete Laude
