6 caught having ‘shabu’ session
CEBU, Philippines – What started as an armed person alarm led the arrest of six men reportedly having drug session in Sitio Hawod, Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City last Thursday afternoon.
The arrested persons were Jonathan Ramirez, 32, resident of Sitio Holy Child, Barangay Tabunok; Teodoro Pardillo, 36, Sitio of Mananga 2, Tabunok; Rey Deiparine, 38, also of Mananga 2; Joven Novela, 36, Rolando Abalo, 29, and Reynaldo Albeos, all residents of Sitio Ilang-Ilang, Barangay Lagtang.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina of Talisay City Police Station said a concerned citizen called and informed them of the presence of an armed person in Sitio Hawod.
Espina and his colleagues responded the alarm, together with the Special Weapons and Tactics. Upon reaching the crowded area, Espina said, people, including the alleged armed person who remained unidentified, reportedly scampered away.
But authorities chanced to saw a group of men allegedly doing a drug session in a nearby shanty.
Police seized three pieces of tin foil to be allegedly used as improvised tooter; another three pieces of foil used as "sandayong"; two lighters and rolled tissue wicks.
The responding police apprehended the six suspects and brought them to Talisay City Police Station where they are now detained.
Meanwhile, an alleged Level 2 drug pusher was also collared by Talisay City Police personnel in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Kilawan, Barangay Tanke last Thursday evening.
Police identified the suspect as Jebril Capayas, 30, single, resident of said place.
Superintendent Germano Mallari, chief of Talisay City Police Station, said they failed to seize a huge volume of shabu from the subject. He believed that the Capayas might have disposed the illegal drugs prior to their operation.
Mallari said his man acted as poseur buyer who negotiated with Capayas for a P100 worth of shabu. When the suspect handed the drugs, a police backup arrested Capayas.
Mallari said they surveyed the suspect for almost two months.
"Dili ni siya gamay nga mamaligyaay og shabu kay na-belong man ni siya as Level 2 pero gamay ra gyud ang among naatlan nga shabu gikan niya," he said.
The suspect has been placed behind bars while appropriate charges are filed against him. —Gabriel C. Bonjoc of BANAT News
