5 nabbed for ‘robbing’ water machine coins
CEBU, Philippines - At least five robbers of Automatic Tubig Machine (ATM) were collared by the authorities in Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City last Tuesday dawn.
The arrested persons were Regie Abasa, 20; Gervie Segalle, 21; Delson Romangos, 25; Amar Monterde, 19; and Emmanuel Toreon, 21, all residents of Barangay Candulawan.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina of Talisay City Police Station said the suspects destroyed the padlock of the ATM’s coin box and carted away the coins amounting to P4,900.
The owner, Marissa Abadiano, heard the coins clink which prompted her to check her water machine. She then saw the suspects scampering away when she turned her lights on.
She said she remembered the face of two of the suspects.
Espina and his colleagues conducted a hot-pursuit operation and arrested the five.
Only a portion of the stolen earnings were recovered by the police from the suspects who are now detained at the Talisay City Police Station. (FREEMAN)
